Guest curator Cole Kamerick brings together seven Detroit-area metalsmith and jewelry artists in a one-weekend-only exhibition held in conjunction with the SNAG 2026 Conference in Detroit. The show explores the expansive possibilities of metal as a material — from intimate wearable objects to sculptural forms.
Working across forging, fabrication, casting, and experimental techniques, the artists in this exhibition each bring a unique perspective to the material. This collection of work broaches the subject: what metal can do — what it can hold, carry, and communicate. The work ranges from art jewelry to mechanical sculptures, unified by a shared attention to process and the expressive potential of metal as a medium.
